Heritage Garden is a park behind the Municipal Offices at 52700 Van Dyke Avenue in Shelby Township, MI, on the east side of the road, south of 24 Mile Road. Completed in 1975 as part of a Bicentennial Committee project, the garden runs beside a 2½-acre spring-fed lake and is enclosed by ornate wrought iron fencing. Its lakeside setting and fenced grounds are central features of the site. The garden can be reserved by the hour for wedding ceremonies, wedding photos, family photos and other uses. During reserved times, an attendant limits entry to the reservation holder and their designated party members, an important consideration when planning a visit. Listed park amenities include picnic tables, a baseball field, tennis courts and a play area, along with hiking and kid-friendly hikes. Dogs and children are welcome, and both the entrance and parking are listed as wheelchair accessible.
