What we collect, and why.

One thing: an email address, if you type it into the form on this site. Nothing else is required, and no account is created.

We also record which form the address came from and the date it arrived, so we know what you asked to hear about.

To answer local questions, Noemic guesses your area from your connection. That guess is marked approximate. You can pick a city or ZIP instead, or tap "Use my exact location" — the only thing that asks your browser for your location, and never on page load. If you allow it, your coordinates are rounded to 3 decimal places (about 100 metres) and turned into a city during that one request. We do not keep those coordinates on our servers after the request, and they never go into analytics. Your device keeps the rounded point and city in a cookie for 90 days. If you are signed in and tick "Save as my home area", only the city is saved on your account. You can change it any time from the location button in the search box.

Noemic sets one first-party cookie, nm_vid, that identifies this browser for a year. It cannot be read by scripts on the page. There are no third-party trackers or advertising pixels.

With it we record each visit (landing page, the site that sent you, campaign tags, a Noemic ad click id if present, device type, browser and city) and each question you ask (the question, its city and topic, and the answer opened). Your IP address is stored only as a one-way hash with a salt that changes every month.

This builds a profile of the topics, cities and times you usually search. It is used for your recent searches and “For you” suggestions, as a tie-break in ranking, and in aggregated audience counts for Noemic Ads. Advertisers never receive personal data.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, no profile is built and no searches are kept; only the hashed IP is logged for abuse prevention. When you sign in, the history on this browser is linked to your account.

Retention: searches 18 months. The raw IP address is kept separately for 30 days for fraud and abuse prevention only, then deleted.

We do not sell, rent, or trade the list. We do not use it to advertise anything that is not ours.

Write to hello@noemic.com and ask. The address is deleted, not suppressed, and you will get confirmation that it is gone.

This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party tracking pixels. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request as part of serving them.
